Statement from Westlife

We wanted to take a moment to say thank you to everyone for their kind words and support since making our announcement.Our fans continue to be the best support system we could ever hope for and we thank each and every one of you.

The support we have felt over last couple of day's gives us all strength as we look forward to our new individual paths in life and we all feel excited about the next chapters that we are embarking on.We know it doesn't make for agood story but regardless of what you might read in the papers this was wholeheartedly a united decision.Obviously there is already a huge amount of speculation as to what exactly is next for us all,but until you hear it ftrom us it remains just that ;speculation.

We are planning a fan Q A and some intervieuws in the coming weeks so that we can speak directly to you all and so that you can hear our plans,straight from us.Until then,we thank you all from the bottom of our hearts-we really do have the best fans in the world.

AMSTERDAM - Kian Egan is dinsdagavond voor het eerst vader geworden.

De zanger van boyband Westlife en zijn vrouw verwelkomden zoon Koa. "Ik hou zielsveel van mijn zoon en vrouw", twitterde Kian.

"Ons kereltje Koa is vandaag om 18.10 uur geboren", maakte de trotse vader wereldkundig. "Jodi Albert is een geweldige vrouw." Volgens de 31-jarige Ier maken moeder en kind het goed.

Collega's

Egans Westlife-collega's reageerden al snel op het babynieuws. "Felicitaties voor mijn vrienden Kian en Jodi met de geboorte van hun eerste kind", twitterde Mark Feehily vlak nadat Egan de komst van zijn zoon aankondigde. "Geweldig nieuws voor Kian en Jodi. Welkom op deze wereld Koa", reageerde Nicky Byrne. "Net op tijd voor kerst."

Ook de fans van Westlife pikten het nieuws snel op. Een paar uur na Egans bericht was Koa trending topic in Groot-Brittannië. "Wow jongens, bedankt! Geweldig om te zien dat onze zoon Koa trending is in Groot-Brittannië", reageerde Egan. "En hij is pas een paar uur oud."

Uptown Girl

Westlife, dat naast Egan, Feehily en Byrne uit Shane Filan bestond, scoorde hits als Flying Without Wings en Uptown Girl. De Ierse boyband maakte in oktober bekend na veertien jaar uit elkaar te gaan. Brian McFadden stapte in 2004 al uit de band. De vier overgebleven leden willen zich nu op solocarrières storten.
